Privacy
The short version: your Alabo is yours. Your data stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. Alabo has no servers and can’t see it.
Last updated 20 October 2026.
Who we are
Alabo is made by Robert Whittaker, an individual based in the UK, who is responsible for your personal data under UK data protection law (the “controller”). You can reach us at hello@alabo.app.
The app
No account
There’s nothing to sign up for. Alabo doesn’t know your name or email address.
Your data stays with you
What you track, your good weeks, your colours, notes, pulses and daily steps are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is on, they’re also synced through your own private iCloud account, so they’re on your other devices and come back if you reinstall. That private iCloud storage belongs to you and is run by Apple; Alabo has no servers of its own, and we can’t see, read or download any of it.
The widget
Your home-screen widget reads a small summary of your colours and steps, which stays on your iPhone.
Apple Health (coming soon)
When Alabo can read from Apple Health, that information will only be read on your iPhone, with your permission. It will never be stored by Alabo, synced to iCloud or sent anywhere.
No ads, no tracking, no analytics
The app has no adverts, doesn’t track you and doesn’t collect analytics. If you’ve agreed to share crash reports in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may pass anonymous crash reports to us to help fix problems.
Premium
Subscriptions are handled by Apple and belong to your Apple ID. We don’t receive your payment details.
Deleting your data
Settings › Delete everything removes your Alabo from your iPhone and from iCloud. Deleting the app removes it from that iPhone only, so it can come back from iCloud if you reinstall. You can also remove Alabo’s iCloud data in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › iCloud.
Testing (TestFlight)
If you test Alabo through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple shares your name or email address with us so we can invite you, plus any feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send. We use these only to run the test and improve Alabo, under Apple’s TestFlight terms.
Emails to us
If you email hello@alabo.app (including from the app’s Contact Alabo screen, which opens your own mail app), we receive your email address and what you choose to write, plus the app and iOS version if you leave them in. We use it only to reply and to improve Alabo, and keep it as long as needed for that. Our email is forwarded by Cloudflare to a Gmail inbox, so Cloudflare and Google process it on our behalf.
The waiting list
If you join the waiting list, we keep your email address, with your consent, to tell you when Alabo launches. It’s stored by Kit (kit.com), our mailing-list service, which sends the emails for us as our processor; Kit is based in the US and protects the data it holds under its own data protection terms. You’ll get one email asking you to confirm, nothing is sent until you do, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share your address, and we delete the list once it has served its purpose, or your address as soon as you unsubscribe.
This website
The site is hosted by Cloudflare. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across sites. There are no adverts and no third-party trackers.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. For the app, almost everything is in your own hands already, because we hold none of it. For emails and the waiting list, write to hello@alabo.app and we’ll reply within a month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
